Secretary-General’s statement on the terrorist bombings in Damascus

New York – The Secretary-General condemns in the strongest possible terms the terrorist bombings in Damascus this morning which have left dozens killed and injured.  There are no circumstances that justify the targeting of civilians.  Such terror attacks are unacceptable.  The Secretary-General is deeply saddened and expresses his condolences to the families of the victims.

Secretary-General Appoints Abdullah Al Matouq of Kuwait as Humanitarian Envoy for Kuwait

New York – United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon announced today the appointment of Mr. Abdullah Al Matouq of Kuwait as his Humanitarian Envoy for Kuwait. The Secretary-General looks forward to Mr. Al Matouq working closely with the Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs to build stronger partnerships in Kuwait and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region.

Secretary-General Appoints Major General in Liberia
