ICC Prosecutor withdraws charges related to 2007 election against senior Kenyan official

New York – The Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) today filed to drop charges against Francis Muthaura, who was accused of crimes against humanity and other offences allegedly committed following general elections in late 2007, but reiterated that charges remain against the president-elect, Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta. Deploring recent suicide bombings, UN calls for end to attacks harming Afghan civilians

New York – The United Nations political mission in Afghanistan today condemned two recent suicide attacks carried out by anti-government forces which resulted in the deaths of at least 19 civilians, including nine children, and the wounding of at least another 31 civilians. (more…)

By 2020, more than 140 million girls will have become child brides – UN
