Sudan: UN rights experts condemn death sentence against pregnant mother for apostasy and adultery

GENEVA, 19 May 2014 – A group of UN human rights experts Monday expressed alarm after Meriam Ibrahim, a Christian woman pregnant with her second child, was sentenced to death and 100 lashes for marrying a Christian man and refusing to renounce her faith. UN Committee marks one month since abduction of schoolgirls in Chibok, Nigeria, urges release, warns of consequences

GENEVA, 14 May 2014 – The Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women on Wednesday firmly condemned the acts of violence against more than 200 girls who were abducted from their secondary school on 14 April 2014 during a violent raid by Boko Haram in the village of Chibok, Borno State, Nigeria. Nigeria: UN and African experts call for immediate release of abducted girls and accountability of perpetrators
