Among other exhibitors were the British High Commission, World Bank Group, The Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO).
The UNIC Pretoria stand attracted a lot of visits and questions on how the UN works. The evening was filled with a lot of excitement and zeal from the students. UNIC engaged the students in a quiz to assess their knowledge on the UN. Winners got prizes such branded T-shirts, USB’s, diaries, table books and posters from various agencies.
Mr Leslie Maasdorp, Vice President of BRICS New established Development Bank (NDB) gave the students a word of motivation and some tips on achieving a successful career.
A career with the United Nations organization offers a unique opportunity for qualified individuals with a passion for international development to contribute to solving some of the world’s most pressing issues. Most university students who aspire to be part of the UN systems normally ask how they can get involved with UN programmes, and the courses to take. The Career Evening offered an opportunity for answers to these and other questions.
